Learning and Teaching in 2-3 Room

We, at Orchard Day Nursery aim to work in close partnership with parents and aim to create a warm nurturing homely environment where the individual child’s home routines are followed especially regarding sleeptimes and pottytraining.

Mrs Alex Clarke, our Pre-School Teacher oversees learning and teaching in our 2-3 Room and supports the team of staff in planning and assessment.  There are often times when children from the 2-3 Room work alongside those of Pre-School thus enabling a smooth transition in their final year.

Having been inspired by training at the world renowned Malaguzzi Institute in Reggio Emilio, Italy, planning is child centred with all learning experiences taken directly from the interests and ideas of the children either through group discussions and discoveries or observations of the children throughout the day.  Learning experiences are then planned to enable children to explore a concept or idea further through activities linked to all seven areas of the curriculum.

Outdoor learning plays a huge part in the Reggio approach and all children have weekly Forest School sessions in our on-site Forest School lead by qualified and experienced Forest School Leaders.  Additionally children spend time in our large nursery garden whenever possible.

We do participate in the 2 Year Old Funding scheme and currently have places available.
